Dan Friend 
Lewis University Men's V-ball Head Coach
2022 marks the 18th season for Dan Friend at the helm of the Lewis University men’s volleyball program. He is in his 25th season overall as a collegiate head coach. Dan Friend is BCAP certified and has run several beach clinics.  He leads private lessons as well and has coached several events on the AVP ( Association of Volleyball Professionals).  He has been part of several top 10 finishes over the years highlighted by a second place in the 2018 Chicago AVP.


Lorelee Smith
Lewis University Women's V-ball Head Coach
The 2021 season is Lorelee Smith’s 15th as the women's volleyball head coach at Lewis University. Smith is a member of the AVCA and represents the GLVC on the AVCA Head Coaches Committee. Smith plays professional beach volleyball and is the Great Lakes Region Beach Volleyball Coordinator for USA Volleyball.

And as a Certified Youth Sports Administrator (CYSA) and Beach Certified Coach, Ross Balling and his staff consistently create and build volleyball programs at the grassroots level. His creativity and experience have rekindled many programs, thus bringing new opportunities for local athletes and driving visitors into the communities he serves. Coach Ross and his team of Certified Volleyball Professionals instruct athletes ranging from Volleykidz for K-2nd graders to Adult Spiking 102 for advanced players.

A Family Experience

There are many additional activities to enjoy at Black River Manor aside from the Volleyball Camp. Your family will enjoy camping beneath the stars, smoked food cookouts, nightly bonfires, nature hikes, fishing, blueberry picking, ax-throwing, and other awesome outdoor activities.

When and where will the event take place?

Our Beach Volleyball Camp will occur at the Black River Manor property, located at 91 70th Street South Haven, MI 49090. Players should arrive before 9 am on Thursday, July 14, 2022.

What age groups can attend the event?

This event is open to boys and girls ages 14-18.

What is the cost to attend the camp?

Each player must pay an $895 registration fee that will include professional instruction for the complete four-day camp. Lodging and meals are not included.

Can I cancel and receive a refund?

Unfortunately, we do not offer refunds on our exclusive events due to the high costs of hosting the event.

Where will attendees stay during the course?

Black River Manor beach volleyball players can reserve a standard campsites (BYOT) for a cost of $70 per night. Our enhanced tents are also available for a cost of $90 per night, per player (4-person minimum).

What type of activities will there be?

Our property is still under development, but we have 80 acres to explore, a beautiful river for fishing, a smoker for community cookouts, plenty of large grass areas for lounging around, playing frisbee, or other sports, and much more. Our property is only 7 minutes from downtown South Haven, MI, for visits to the beach and local restaurants and stores.
